Okonomiyaki is Japan’s beloved savory pancake — crispy, tender, customizable, and bursting with flavor, a street‑food icon that bridges tradition and creativity.
Okonomiyaki is one of Japan’s most comforting and iconic dishes — a savory pancake that blends cabbage, batter, and your choice of toppings into a sizzling, golden masterpiece. Its name comes from okonomi (“as you like it”) and yaki (“grilled”), capturing the spirit of a dish that adapts to every taste.
There are two legendary styles:
Osaka style, where all ingredients are mixed into the batter.
Hiroshima style, where layers are built one by one, often with yakisoba noodles.
Whichever version you choose, okonomiyaki is warm, hearty, and deeply satisfying — a perfect example of Japanese comfort food.

Pour half the batter onto the pan and shape it into a thick pancake. Place your chosen fillings (pork, shrimp, etc.) on top.

After 3–4 minutes, flip the pancake carefully. Press gently and cook another 3–4 minutes until golden and cooked through.
