Government Shutdown Grounds Flights Across the U.S.

The ongoing government shutdown is wreaking havoc on air travel nationwide. Major airlines—including American, Delta, and United—have begun canceling up to 10% of flights in high-traffic regions due to a shortage of air traffic controllers and TSA staff.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has warned that delays and cancellations could worsen if the shutdown continues. Travelers are reporting long lines, missed connections, and limited customer service as federal employees face furloughs or work without pay.

Industry experts say the disruption could cost airlines millions and impact holiday travel plans. Lawmakers remain at an impasse over budget negotiations, with no clear resolution in sight.
